Free Spring Break Activities in Fort Smith

It is hard to believe, but Spring Break 2015 is almost here! While many people are going on vacations or visiting family, a lot of students are left with an entirely open schedule for one week. While napping may be a top priority after midterms, this freedom may lead to boredom. No need to fret- there are several activities planned locally during the break that are completely free of charge!

KGRA DB, The Best in Paranormal Programming. Arkansas Mufon, on Saturday, March 21, visit the main branch Fort Smith Library to learn about paranormal programming. Race Hobbs, an Arkansas native, will discuss his digital broadcasting network that covers subjects like current events, alternative research, breakthrough science and technology, suppressed information, conspiracies, hidden history and even philosophy and spirituality.

Canoeing or Kayaking Also on Saturday, March 21, visitors are welcome at the Janet Huckabee River Valley Nature Center from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. to enjoy a fun and relaxing day learning to canoe or kayak.

Drop In and Draw On Thursday, March 26, visitors are welcome to the RAM from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. to come in and practice your drawing skills. RAM will provide a live model and studio space and visitors are asked to bring their own art supplies with the exception of an easel which will also be provided.

Guided Hike Join the staff at the Janet Huckabee River Valley Nature Center on Saturday, March 28, at 10 a.m. for a guided hike through our beautiful area. Enjoy the scenery and beauty of the nature that surrounds us that is often overlooked. Don’t forget your camera to capture the moment!

Laser Shot Also on March 28 at the Nature Center, practice your hunting skills with the computer program complete with a laser gun that will test your accuracy and aim.
